'CumulOnimbus'
Natural disasters are more and more frequent as climate change is pushing the boundaries of survival of life on Earth. The collection is looking at the stages of loss of entity, belonging and the remains of memory of the objects, places and memories people lose in the case of natural disasters. The 7 stages show: Emergence , Skeleton , Snatch, Loss, Residue, Renew. These stages go through the act of losing a part of yourself, whatever that may be. Each stage takes on illustrating visually and volumetrically the geometrical and conceptual interpretation of feelings through the realization of losing something at the start to the end depicting the transformation of the initial object/place into a living memory that turns the initial into memory.
Emergence
The catastrophe starts , precious memories, objects, people are caught up in the turmoil. This stage depicts the beauty of the beginning of the end. The realization that you will lose something precious to you, that maybe you haven't realized the true value of until that exact moment.
Skeleton
The tornado engulfs Its newfound belongings, grows in size and shows a gridded structure of chaos
Snatch
The fragility of things is shown as memories, places as we once new them become part of the cumuli, the blue of the sky mixes with silver dust as a metaphor to object disintegration and destruction inside the structure. The stone is facetted in half on purpose to show this breakage in between self and the object/place lost in the process.
Snatch
The fragility of things is shown as memories, places as we once new them become part of the cumuli, the blue of the sky mixes with silver dust as a metaphor to object disintegration and destruction inside the structure. The stone is facetted in half on purpose to show this breakage in between self and the object/place lost in the process.
Loss
Objects become chaos and chaos objects. There is no more differentiation. At this stage they are one, attaining a beauty of its own.
Residue
The shape of places and objects remain. However, just as a faded memory. A hollow to the once full entity.
Renew
The once place, object, memory transcends using the residue , remains of the destroyed core. The shape of it merges and forms a new beginning, from 2 cornered stones to 1 corner with a base that remembers the old shape.
